Change, it starts with me

Change is difficult. It is risky, slow to develop, and subject to criticism. And often, one's fear of others is what prevents them from moving forward with change. The hardest and most terrifying element of the process is the initial step since it leaves one up to risk. However, it also creates prospects for independence and immense freedom. Making the decision to bring about change is difficult, and continuing down that road by really putting forth the work is equally difficult and crucial, but as the saying goes, nothing worthwhile ever comes easily.

Everything you want is just outside of your comfort zone, according to a quotation I came across at some point in my life. “Everything you want is right outside your comfort zone”, I see how true the quote was. We can only accomplish anything spectacular when we break from our typical routine and act in a unique way. Change is a departure from the norm, to put it simply.

Change is inevitable. It is also common to fear change. But doing it nevertheless is part of what makes us human. We are members of the human race, and rather than being characterized by our capacity to alter the course of events, we are best described by the decisions we make for ourselves and the things we do to improve ourselves as people, as this is where genuine change begins.

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhoodmaternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.

While some countries have a multi-century history of a day to celebrate mothers, the modern American version of the holiday began in the United States in the early 20th century at the initiative of Anna Jarvis, who organized the first Mother's Day service of worship and celebration at Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, West Virginia, which serves as the International Mother's Day Shrine today. It is not directly related to the many traditional celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have existed throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, the mother deity Rhea, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the other Christian ecclesiastical Mothering Sunday celebration (associated with the image of Mother Church). However, in some countries, Mother's Day is still synonymous with these older traditions.

The purpose of Mother's Day is to express love, appreciation, and gratitude towards mothers and mother figures for their unconditional love, support, and sacrifices. That is why you should always be grateful and thank your Mother this Mother's Day

Labor Day

Labor Day 2023 will occur on Monday, September 4. Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers and is traditionally observed on the first Monday in September. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894. Labor Day weekend also symbolizes the end of summer for many Americans and is celebrated with parties, street parades and athletic events.

Labor Day, an annual celebration of workers and their achievements, originated during one of American labor history’s most dismal chapters.

In the late 1800s, at the height of the Industrial Revolution in the United States, the average American worked 12-hour days and seven-day weeks in order to eke out a basic living. Despite restrictions in some states, children as young as 5 or 6 toiled in mills, factories and mines across the country, earning a fraction of their adult counterparts’ wages.

People of all ages, particularly the very poor and recent immigrants, often faced extremely unsafe working conditions, with insufficient access to fresh air, sanitary facilities and breaks.

The Labor day holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.

3 down 1 to go

With the 3rd quarter ending, I learned a bunch of stuff, yes I struggled this 3rd quarter but manage to pass through it and I'm proud to say that, I did my best in this quarter and hope to improve this 4th and last quarter of junior high school. It may sound normal but for me it kind of sad because I realized that all of us are growing so fast and almost going on our separate ways once we reach senior high.

3rd quarter was a blast. This was the most interesting quarter I have experienced yet, its was hard but I did my best to get through my tough situations, doing html, community based research, and more. It was super fun and exciting, but I didn't do it alone, I did it with the help of my classmates and teachers thanks to them I managed to get through the 3rd quarter and hope to have the best last quarter with all of them

3rd quarter was the best quarter, and I hope that by the end of my junior high days I would proudly say to myself that I did a great job.

Women Power

The observance of national Women’s Day (IWD) was a result of the organizing activities of women in the early 20th Century. Between 1909 and 1911, working women in the United States of America participated in organizing strike activities of the National Women’s Trade Union League and other concerned groups. They were protesting against low wages, lack of protective legislation and the very poor working conditions to which women workers were subjected during that time.

The demonstrations were an offshoot of the tragic March 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York City, which took the lives of more than 140 working girls, mostly Italian and Jewish immigrants. Subsequently, the inhumane working conditions and other unfair labor practices leading up to the disaster were invoked during observances of IWD.

The 2023 Women's Month marks a juncture in the advancement of women’s rights as it launches a new recurring theme from this year to 2028: WE for gender equality and inclusive society. It sparks a renewed commitment to the advocacy and banks on the gains achieved during the 2016-2022 theme, WE Make CHANGE Work for Women, which emphasized the need for compassionate and harmonized networks towards gender equality and women empowerment.
